On Thursday, District Judge Jeanette Vargas dismissed Drake’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group’s promotion of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” during their highly publicized rap beef last year.

The reason for the court’s dismissal was that the allegedly defamatory statements in “Not Like Us” were nonactionable opinion. Judge Vargas wrote, “A reasonable listener could not have concluded that ‘Not Like Us’ was conveying objective facts about Drake.”

Drake’s lawsuit filed against Universal Music Group claimed that the song spread defamatory allegations against him which claimed that he was a pedophile.
